Well they failed anyway; released victim information and uncensored photos of naked children.

Thank you, wonderfully said and I agree.

Sharp argument. The redaction logic falls apart when the perpetrators already know who they victimized. I dealt with simillar paradoxes in security work where hiding info sometimes creates more risk than transparency with the right people.

Agreed, some of Congress (just the committee? Maybe all of Congress?) they've seen the unredacted files. They know the names of the victims and the guilty.

Read the post. I see two issues. First, release a victim's name and they WILL be attacked either with emails phone calls and even personally. It's already occurred. Second, some victims have "moved on" and live what's left of a "normal" life and would prefer not to have their names released. As for congress and the DOJ having the decency to not expose the victim names, IMO there are some congresspeople who would and I KNOW that the corrupt leaders in the DOJ would.

I don't think Congress or law enforcement got redacted files. I think they were redacted for release to the general public.

To protect victims from being harassed or harmed by someone from the general public.

as far as I am aware, what they have released to the public is ALL they have released.

Even Massey (a republican congressman) is saying they have not released the files and have redacted the wrong things.

Shamefully, the DOJ has left many of the victims names unredacted. What we really need to know are the names of the perpetrators besides Trump.

There are many bad actors who would misuse such information. Laws exist to protect against this. The regime and its enablers are victimizing these people all over again.

like I said to someone else that commented… Trump, Bondi and Patel (et al) already know the real names…

I don’t see how Congress knowing them could be any worse.

Al Bellenchia's avatar

They probably already do.

Imagine you were a child victim. You suffered at the hands of monsters, but you escaped and survived. You tried to forget the nightmare; you "moved on," never speaking about it to anyone. You have a nice life with good people who know nothing of your past, but the shame victims feel, shame that isn't theirs, is their secret. Why would you condone risking their life by revealing that which they have protected for decades?

as I said, I’m not asking them to reveal it to the public, just to Congress and Law Enforcement.

If those people can’t be trusted with it, then we’ve got bigger problems.

And it’s not like nobody knows the names… Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, Donald Trump know the names… if you think telling our legislators is worse than the people who already know the names, then well, I don’t know what to say
