What to do if Trump throws the election into chaos
First, let me state that I’m not lawyer, nor am I a Constitutional Scholar, so I don’t know the legal ramifications of my proposal.
I don’t know about you, but my biggest fear about the upcoming elections is that in one way or another, the GOP will manage to delay the certification of the electoral slates and thereby throw the election to the House of Representatives (where it’s likely Trump would be chosen president, regardless of the votes of the people).
Now, it’s true that the Harris campaign has hired a large swatch of lawyers to watch for any shenanigans and so far, it kind of looks like Kamala will beat old Donnie within an inch of his life, so perhaps there’s not much need to fear, but it only takes one state refusing to certify to delay the certification past the deadline for it to end up in the House.
But I think I might have a simple way to stop them from this ratfuckery.
Joe Biden can simply cancel the election. Or postpone the certification, or pause it or something.
And it’s not like anyone can stop him, since the Supreme Court has ruled the President can commit crimes if he does so in the performance of his presidential duties.
What higher duty does the president have beyond “protect[ing] and defend[ing] the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic”?
It’s not simply his option, it’s literally his duty to stop any sort of election theft by Trump and the GOP.
I don’t know if anyone else has thought of this.
I don’t know if the DNC, Harris, Biden or anyone has considered it.
I don’t really know offhand what the legal ramifications are (but considering what SCOTUS has done, I’m not sure anyone actually knows that) so maybe I’m wrong.
But it would be a great thing if somebody at least suggested this.
Hi. Contrary to the corporate media's fear mongering, we're not a banana republic. Even if Jan 6 had been successful, it would have been the shortest coup in human history. Yes, our president is commander of the military, but that's second to the military's oath to defend and protect the Constitution.
Since Trump is no longer president, he's no longer "the commander". The military is no longer his to use.
The Supreme Court has limits as to what it can do. And the House has limits, too. Then there's that's pesky thing called the Senate.
It's 5:30 in the morning, and I haven't had coffee yet. Plus explaining the complexities of the Constitution would take me until noon. I'm not a Constitutional scholar, either, but I can assure you you're fears - while logical - are without merit. Our beloved and highly intelligent founders made sure we have three separate and equally powerful parts of our government.
It's why it's important to vote. 🙂💙
I think Biden should arrest any Supreme Court Justices hanging around for this and any Congress People who try this along with any fake electors. Round them up. Use the Military to stop this Coup. They swore to defend the Constitution from enemies both external and internal.
